I am a Middle Grade Author and Science Writer from British Columbia, Canada.

Thank you for visiting my site!

I write fiction for middle grade readers, aged eight to twelve. Trouble in the Trees and the stand alone sequel, Road Block, were my first publications. Inside Hudson Pickle and the more recently released, Elliot Jelly-Legs and the Bobblehead Miracle, have received numerous award nominations.

In 2020, my nonfiction debut, CRISPR: A Powerful Way to Change DNA, was published. It has been translated into Korean and Japanese. Both CRISPR and my 2023 release, Evolution Under Pressure: How We Change Nature and How Nature Changes Us, are Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selections.

My recent publications are part of the Orca Footprints series. What Poo Can Do: How Animals Are Fighting the Climate Crisis is available now. Microbes to the Rescue: Using Bacteria, Algae and Fungi to Clean Up the Planet hits the shelves May 2025!
